Pricing & Registration

Chris is this year limiting the number of trainers-in-training in each session to 9 from the previous 12 in order to focus on the amount of personal attention desired by trainers-in-training.  A maximum of 9 horses per day will be at work in the arena.  Participants may be any of Chris’ bronze certified trainers or not-yet-certified trainers-in-training.  There are no pre-requisites for participating in these sessions, however, he encourages new trainers-in-training to have some working knowledge of equine body language and basic understanding of Chris’ philosophy and methodology.  Chris therefore highly encourages individuals seeking certification to locate one of his certified trainers in their region, if possible, and work with them to develop a fundamental skill set both on the ground and under saddle.  If there are no certified trainers available, Chris’ 8-title DVD Training Library offers an invaluable resource to gaining proficiency.  Chris welcomes horsemen and horsewomen of all disciplines, English, western and drivers, into his program.

For trainers-in-training bringing their own horse, once you are confirmed in a session, please provide Chris with information as to the goals you would like to achieve with your horse. Please make stalling arrangements directly with the host facility as, other than in Holland, stalling fees are not included in your session fee. There will be no additional fee for trainers-in-training electing to work with facility horses. Chris will select horses for these students to work with each day and the goals will be outlined in the morning theory sessions.

Silver and Gold certified trainers are welcome to attend these sessions as assistant coaches who will work under Chris’ tutelage working with the trainers-in-training.  Chris will allow up to 3 silver or gold certified coaches per session and the fee is $50 per day, with a $50 deposit.

Participants are asked to come prepared with the following: lunge line, lunge whip, dressage whip or crop, D-ring or full-cheek snaffle bit (rather than loose-ring), full tack, protective boots if you use them, surcingle and driving reins if you would like to long-line, and your own riding helmet and gloves.  Please mark your equipment in such a way you can distinguish it from others.

All Trainers-in-Training are responsible for purchasing their own set of Chris’ DVD Training Library, available in either DVD or VHS format from his website, as reference and resource materials to refer to throughout their training development.  Trainees would also be wise to team up with a certified trainer, if one is available, between sessions so as to have eyes and diagnostic credentials to assist them through their learning process.

Each Train The Trainer 3-day session starts at 9 am and goes to approximately 6 pm daily.  The first 1 to 1 ½ hours will be devoted to theory and question/answer.  The remainder of the day, excepting a lunch break, will be practical work with the horses in the arena.  The fee is $885 (Canada and U.S.) or 885€ for Europe.  For Canadian sessions, a 5% GST tax will be added.  There will be no tax added to European sessions.

Payment Terms

To secure your space in a specific session, a deposit of $300/300€ is required, with the balance due by the first day of the session.  Online secure PayPal payment is accepted during registration, or personal cheques.  Please be aware these clinics book in quickly, and spaces are confirmed on a first-come, first-serve basis on deposits received.  Simply calling or emailing a request to attend a clinic does not automatically include you on the roster.  Online registrations with PayPal payment of deposit or full payment are promptly processed to confirm your space in the clinic.  Should you prefer to pay your deposit with a personal cheque, please make it out to Horsepower Productions and mail to:

P.O. Box 1619, Whitecourt, Alberta T7S 1P4  Canada.

Your space cannot be confirmed until your cheque is received at the Horsepower office.  At that time you will receive a written email as receipt of your deposit confirming your space.  If the clinic has already filled by the time you give your credit card information, or Horsepower receives your cheque, you will be contacted that you are the next on the wait list.

Should you register with a deposit payment, full payment of the balance is due on the first day of the training session.  You may submit secure PayPal payment for the balance by selecting "FINAL BALANCE" using the same online form used for registration and deposit (and only completing the required form fields). Should you wish to pay for the balance with a cheque or cash at the session, please notify Anne so she can make arrangements.  Direct billing is not available.  Please do not send cash through the mail.

Cancellation Policy

Should you cancel a confirmed space in a Train The Trainer session, your deposit, less 10% handling fee, will only be refunded if a replacement is found.  Or you may choose to transfer this deposit to a future event, without the handling fee, but again, only if a replacement is found for the space you are releasing.
